Sifnos: Dead dolphin found entangled in fishing nets

A dead dolphin was found washed up on Kamares Beach in Sifnos, entangled in fishing nets. The discovery was made by local residents and visitors, prompting an immediate response from authorities.

Following the discovery, the Port Authority, the Municipality of Sifnos, and the Municipal Port Fund coordinated an operation to safely collect and remove the marine mammal from the shore in compliance with health regulations. While the exact cause of death has not yet been determined, the presence of fishing nets around the animal highlights the ongoing risks that fishing gear poses to marine mammals and the broader need for ocean life protection.
