Siófok mayor halts tree cutting amid local controversy
In Siófok, Mayor Robert Lengyel has halted the cutting of public trees following local outcry. The decision came after approximately ten trees, including lime and maple varieties, were removed along Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street. While the removals were part of sidewalk and ditch renovation preparations and had official permits, the mayor noted that many of the trees were healthy. He has ordered the city's chief gardener to conduct individual expert assessments, stating that only trees deemed hazardous will be removed.
In Aszód, Mayor Szilvia Győrfiné Hajdú has claimed that the recent dissolution of the municipal representative body was illegal. The mayor alleges that five members made the decision under improper circumstances, specifically noting that a committee chairman, rather than the mayor or deputy, presided over the meeting. She further stated that the Pest County Government Office failed to notify her of a change in the meeting location.
