SIGAUS manages industrial oil recycling in Castilla y León and Galicia

In 2025, the Spanish regions of Castilla y León and Galicia achieved significant milestones in the recycling and management of used industrial oil through the SIGAUS system.

In Castilla y León, 9,448 gross tons of used industrial oil were generated from 4,874 establishments, including mechanical workshops and industrial facilities. SIGAUS managed the collection and treatment of 100% of this waste, producing approximately 3,000 tons of regenerated lubricants and 3,000 tons of industrial fuel. This process avoided the need for 1.7 million barrels of crude oil.

In Galicia, 10,808 tons of used industrial oil were generated from 5,173 establishments. After removing water and sediments, 10,753 net tons were valorized. This included 3,916 tons processed for regeneration to create new lubricants, a feat that would have required 1.9 million barrels of crude oil if sourced from petroleum. The collection effort spanned 293 municipalities, including significant operations in rural, mountain, and protected natural areas to prevent water contamination.
