Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería y Construcción adopts VR simulators
Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería y Construcción (SKIC) has integrated two virtual reality simulators into its quality assurance and safety processes. The technology is designed to evaluate technical competencies before operators arrive on-site and to identify areas for improvement among existing staff.
The first simulator is located at the company’s Santiago headquarters, focusing on the hiring process and early detection of skill gaps. The second simulator will be deployed across various projects to monitor and address these gaps directly in the field.
According to Pablo Contardo, Machinery Manager, the system allows the company to filter competencies early and provides objective data to create targeted training plans. Osvaldo Rojas, Operations Manager, noted that the system helps close performance gaps that previously went unaddressed after an operator was hired, ensuring continuous improvement during the enablement process. The system was developed in collaboration with YOY.
