Germany winter forecast: Experts assess El Niño impact

While some forecasts suggest the possibility of an extreme or 'century winter,' experts from the German Weather Service (DWD) indicate that the connection between El Niño and German weather is weaker than in regions like Great Britain or the Iberian Peninsula.
Experts suggest that Atlantic temperatures, Atlantic air pressure, and the polar vortex are more decisive factors for Germany. Additionally, high temperatures in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean may lead to increased evaporation and higher humidity. If a west wind pattern with frequent low-pressure areas develops, this could result in more rainfall than usual. A cold winter would instead require a stable high-pressure system over Scandinavia and easterly winds.
