Sigma announces FP2 mirrorless camera and new 50mm prime lens

Sigma has announced the Sigma FP2, a full-frame mirrorless camera, and the Sigma 50mm F1.4 CL DG | Contemporary lens. The FP2 maintains the compact, boxy design of the original fp series but introduces several hardware upgrades, including a tiltable LCD monitor, a partially stacked CMOS sensor, and approximately 70GB of built-in storage.

The new 50mm F1.4 lens marks the beginning of a new CL lens line within Sigma’s I-series. Designed for a classic aesthetic with soft bokeh and natural depth, the lens features a 9-element optical construction and a 14-blade diaphragm. To maintain a compact length of 54mm, Sigma utilized a Rotary Direct Drive (RDD) autofocus mechanism that moves the entire optical system rather than using internal focusing.

The Sigma FP2 is scheduled for release on November 11, 2026, while the 50mm lens is expected to arrive in early spring 2027.
