Sigma announces FP2 mirrorless hybrid camera

Sigma has officially unveiled the FP2, the second generation of its ultra-compact full-frame mirrorless hybrid camera series. Maintaining the modular design of the original 2019 model, the FP2 features a new 24.5-megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor. This sensor upgrade provides faster readout speeds to reduce rolling shutter distortion and enables a minimum shutter speed of 1/25,600 second.

The camera introduces phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) capable of recognizing humans, animals, and birds. It supports high-speed continuous shooting at up to 20 fps. For video production, the FP2 offers 6K Open Gate recording and supports ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes RAW (12-bit), H.264, H.265, and L-Log. It also features 32-bit float audio support.

Physically, the FP2 is slightly thinner than its predecessor but includes a new tilting LCD screen that can tilt 90 degrees upward and 45 degrees downward. The device is housed in a weather-sealed metal body and is powered by a larger 2,200 mAh BP-91 battery. The camera is priced at 2,199 Euro.
