Sigma launches 50-120mm f/2.8 Contemporary APS-C lens
Sigma has released the 50-120mm f/2.8 DC OS Contemporary, a large-aperture telephoto zoom designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Weighing 390g, the lens offers a roughly 75-180mm equivalent zoom range with a constant f/2.8 aperture. It is available for Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF mounts.
To maintain its compact and lightweight profile, Sigma utilized a minimalist design by removing certain switches such as focus mode and AFL buttons. The optical construction includes 18 elements in 13 groups, featuring one FLD element, three super-low dispersion elements, and four aspherical elements. The lens is designed to limit focus breathing for video and includes 11 rounded aperture blades for circular bokeh.
Technical specifications include a High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) AF motor and stabilization providing up to 6.5 stops at the wide end and 4.5 stops at telephoto length. This new addition completes Sigma’s trio of ultra-compact f/2.8 APS-C zooms, which includes the 10-18mm f/2.8 and 18-50mm f/2.8.
