Sigma Lithium reports quarterly earnings miss despite record production

Sigma Lithium Corporation reported quarterly earnings that missed analyst expectations, posting an earnings per share (EPS) of -$0.02 against a consensus estimate of $0.23. The company reported revenue of $54.70 million, falling short of the $68.34 million projected by analysts.

Despite the earnings miss, the company noted record operating performance, with Q2 production increasing 52% sequentially to 35,400 tons of lithium oxide concentrate. Revenue reached a company record of $55 million, and the EBITDA margin hit 47%. Management also reported a 43% reduction in total debt over the last two years.

Operational challenges were noted as mining and processing were temporarily suspended due to negotiations with authorities in Minas Gerais. While management expects a restart within one to two weeks, the regulatory dispute remains an execution risk.

In terms of institutional activity, GSA Capital Partners LLP acquired a new stake in Sigma Lithium during the second quarter, purchasing 198,541 shares valued at approximately $2.51 million. Hedge funds and other institutional investors currently own 64.86% of the company's stock.
