SigmaIntel forecasts OLED TV shipments to peak in 2028

Market research firm SigmaIntel projects that global OLED TV shipments will rise from 6.1 million units in 2024 to a peak of 7.6 million units in 2028, before declining to 7.2 million by 2030.

In contrast, LCD TV shipments are expected to decrease until 2027, reaching a low of 206 million units, before rebounding to 208.4 million units by 2030. This shift may be influenced by Taiwan's AUO potentially exiting the LCD TV panel business by late 2027, which could lead to higher factory utilization rates and potential supply shortages starting in 2028.

The report also highlights rising manufacturing costs driven by memory semiconductor prices. For 65-inch TVs, memory is expected to account for 20-21% of manufacturing costs between late 2026 and mid-2027. For smaller 32-inch models, the impact is more significant, with memory projected to comprise 41-44% of costs during the same period. SigmaIntel suggests that pricing strategies over the next two years will be a critical factor for market demand.
