Signal expands multi-device support for Android and iPhone

Signal has expanded its multi-device capabilities, allowing users to link more mobile devices to a single account. On Android, users can now connect additional smartphones or tablets. Within the Apple ecosystem, the update enables linking a second iPhone, supplementing the existing iPad support.

To utilize these features, users must be on Signal version 8.20 for Android or version 8.22 for iOS. When connecting a new device, users have the option to start with an empty chat history or transfer the last 45 days of locally encrypted chats and media to the new device.

Developers have noted that some issues may persist on Android tablets, specifically regarding settings, the in-app camera, and keyboard shortcut support, though fixes are currently in development.
