Vienna S‑Bahn upgrades trigger multiple line closures from August 10
From 10 August 2026 the northern Vienna S‑Bahn network will be partially closed to install the ETCS Level 2 train‑control system. Replacement buses will run between Floridsdorf, Handelskai, Praterstern and Kagran, and several S‑ and REX lines will operate on altered timetables until 6 September.
In Germany, the A1 Autobahn bridge over the Nordlippestraße at the Hamm‑Bockum/Werne interchange will be demolished between 31 July 20:00 and 3 August 04:00, requiring a full closure of the Nordlippestraße while the Autobahn stays open with narrowed lanes. A 100‑metre section of the Lünener Straße pedestrian and cycle path between Lünen and Bork is also closed, with detours via Zum Wegebild and Borker Straße.
