Signal jammers pose risk to vehicle remote locking security

Digital signal jammers, known as jammers, can compromise vehicle security by disrupting the radio frequency communication between a remote key fob and a car. Forensic computing expert Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Kırık warns that drivers may mistakenly believe their vehicle is locked because the remote's light flashes or the car's headlights react, even when the locking command fails to reach the vehicle due to signal interference.

To mitigate this risk, experts recommend that drivers perform a brief physical check of the door handles after using the remote. Additionally, owners are advised not to leave valuable items in visible areas of the vehicle, as modern thieves often monitor environments and use digital methods to identify targets.
