SIGRE relaunches ‘Buen Punto’ pharmaceutical waste campaign

SIGRE has launched a new edition of its ‘Buen Punto’ awareness campaign to promote the correct disposal of pharmaceutical waste. Running through the end of November, the initiative encourages citizens to periodically check home medicine cabinets and deposit expired, unnecessary, or improperly stored medications and packaging at designated ‘Punto SIGRE’ collection points located in pharmacies.

The campaign utilizes humor to address common habits, such as hoarding expired drugs or saving antibiotics for future self-medication. Miguel Vega, Director General of SIGRE, emphasized that responsible medication use includes the proper management of leftovers and packaging to protect the environment. The initiative specifically targets households with young children and individuals over the age of 55.

Supported by more than 22,300 pharmacies, the campaign will be broadcast across television, radio, press, and digital platforms in Spain. Recent data indicates that three out of four Spanish households already utilize the Punto SIGRE service.
