Siguiri prosecutor denies torture allegations following four inmate deaths

Dominique Loua, the prosecutor for the Court of First Instance in Siguiri, has officially denied allegations of torture following the deaths of four detainees at the Siguiri detention center. The deceased individuals had recently been transferred to the facility from Conakry, including one Guinean citizen with American citizenship.

In response to reports published by journalist Abdoul Latif Diallo, Loua characterized the claims of violence by prison guards as a ‘big lie’ and ‘rumors.’ The prosecutor maintained that the detainees were treated properly and noted that death is a natural occurrence that can happen in any correctional facility.

Loua criticized the journalist for failing to verify information with competent sources before publication. He suggested that the families of the deceased, who have already received the bodies, could confirm the absence of torture marks if necessary.
