Sigulda council to overhaul vehicle-use rules after anti‑corruption probe
The Latvian Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) launched a sectoral audit of personal‑vehicle lease contracts signed by the Sigulda municipal council chair and deputy. In response, the council placed on its agenda a revision of the internal regulation governing the use of personal transport and expense accounting.
The draft revision, not yet published, aims to correct identified shortcomings, clarify procedures and improve transparency while avoiding extensive overhauls. The municipality currently holds lease agreements for personal cars with 85 employees and operates four shared vehicles for staff, but the council chair and deputy do not have individually assigned service cars.
