Sihasak Phuangketkeow outlines security and development strategy for Southern Thailand

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow has emphasized a dual-track strategy for resolving issues in Thailand's southern border provinces, focusing on simultaneous security and economic development. During a meeting of the Southern Border Provinces Development Strategy Committee, he stated that security and public confidence are currently paramount, but sustainable solutions must address all dimensions, including education and infrastructure.

Regarding the peace process, Sihasak noted that Malaysia has confirmed its support for the peace talks and is preparing to consider a new facilitator. To enhance border security, the government plans to utilize both physical fencing and electronic systems.

Sihasak also stressed the need for policy unity among various agencies to ensure that budget allocations for regional projects are efficient, interconnected, and provide maximum value to the local population.
