Siheung City expands policy transparency through Real Name System

Siheung City is strengthening administrative transparency through its ‘Policy Real Name System,’ a program designed to disclose the decision-making and implementation processes of major policies. By making information regarding project details and participants available to the public, the city aims to ensure accountability and prevent closed-door administration.

Since its introduction in 2013, the city has managed 348 projects under this system. Following a review of priority projects by departmental committees, additional projects are expected to be disclosed by November. Furthermore, the city operates the ‘National Application Real Name System,’ which allows any citizen or interested member of the public to request the disclosure of specific policies or projects through the city’s official website.

In separate administrative news, Siheung City is conducting a welfare recipient verification survey for approximately 85,000 individuals across 11 welfare programs, including basic livelihood security and basic pensions. Additionally, the city is recruiting 12 honorary citizen reporters for its municipal newsletter, ‘Beautiful Siheung,’ to document local stories through 2028.
