Siheung City hosts Hachioji delegation to expand bilateral cooperation
A delegation from Hachioji, Japan, visited Siheung, South Korea, from May 19 to 21 to strengthen bilateral ties and explore cooperation in various sectors. Led by Vice Mayor Nakamura Hitoshi, the four-member delegation was invited to participate in the 21st Siheung Gaetgol Festival.
During the visit, the delegation inspected maritime tourism resources, including the Marine Ecology Science Museum, Wave Park, and the Marina Landscape Bridge at Geobukseom. They also visited the Eun-gye Library and Eun-haeng Youth Culture House to discuss international youth exchange programs.
Officials from both cities met to review the progress of their friendship, which has been maintained since a sister-city agreement was signed in 2006. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in culture, youth, and industry. Hachioji City also extended an invitation to Siheung for its 110th anniversary celebrations in 2027.
The visit concluded with inspections of the Siheung Industry Promotion Agency and the Seoul National University Future Mobility Technology Center to review industrial support policies and autonomous driving technologies.
