Siheung City to host marine environmental education forum

Siheung City will host the ‘Siheung-style Marine Environmental Education Activation Forum and Workshop’ on October 8 at the Geobukseom Marine Ecology Science Museum. The event coincides with ‘Sihwa Lake Day’ on October 10, a commemorative day established by Gyeonggi Province in 2024 to mark the 30th anniversary of the lake's creation and to highlight its ecological value.

Organized by the Siheung Eco Center and Siheung YMCA, the forum aims to discuss ways to utilize Sihwa Lake’s ecological resources for localized environmental education. The program includes a field tour, expert presentations, and a workshop. Topics will cover the future of Siheung’s marine environment and the use of digital platforms for citizen science projects. The event seeks to reflect on the lake's transformation from a ‘lake of death’ to a ‘lake of life’ through community efforts.
