Siheung City to host school advancement sessions for multicultural families
Siheung City is launching the ‘2026 Multicultural Family School Advancement Information Sessions’ to help parents from multicultural and migrant backgrounds navigate the educational systems for elementary, middle, and high schools. The initiative aims to reduce information inequality and language barriers that often lead to educational gaps.
Three separate sessions will be held at the Siheung City Family Center. The middle school session is scheduled for September 12, the high school session for September 19, and the elementary school session for November 14. Each session lasts approximately two hours, featuring 90-minute lectures on curricula and advancement procedures, alongside discussions on school violence prevention and the role of parents.
The program is a collaborative effort involving Gyeonggi Province, the provincial office of education, Siheung City, and the Siheung City Family Center. While the province provides funding and the education office supplies multilingual materials and instructors, Siheung City manages local infrastructure and translation services. This initiative is part of a larger regional project covering 21 municipalities in Gyeonggi Province.
