Sihlea, Vrancea: Gas explosion destroys three buildings and injures man

A powerful explosion occurred around 06:00 on Thursday, October 15, in the commune of Sihlea, Vrancea County. The blast is believed to have been caused by the accumulation of combustible gases from an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder used for heating and cooking.

A 53-year-old man sustained severe burns covering approximately 55% of his body. After receiving initial medical assistance from SMURD and local ambulance crews, he was transported to the emergency department at the ‘Sf. Pantelimon’ County Hospital in Focșani for specialized treatment.

The explosion caused significant structural damage, completely destroying three buildings: two adjacent houses and a nearby animal shelter. Additionally, seven neighboring households suffered damage to doors and windows due to the force of the blast.
