Siim Kallas discusses family history and siblings on Vikerraadio

In a recent appearance on the Vikerraadio program ‘Käbi ei kuku…’, Siim Kallas and his son Ülo Kallas discussed family history and personal reflections.

Siim Kallas spoke about the tragedy of losing two older sisters during the war era. He noted that the subject was not discussed openly at home, stating, ‘We went to the cemetery the whole time, and we still go.’ He mentioned that his father’s letter regarding the loss of his children was included in his book ‘Torupill ja nuga’, describing it as a text filled with profound sadness regarding fate and God’s will.

Ülo Kallas also shared observations regarding his sister, politician Kaja Kallas. He noted that while he considers himself more impulsive, Kaja possesses a strong ability to maintain emotional control, specifically recalling her ability to deliver a speech during the funerals of close relatives despite the emotional weight of the occasion.
