Siirt hospital diagnoses man with stage 3 colon cancer

A 56-year-old man, Musa Aksu, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer after seeking medical attention for abdominal pain and changes in bowel movements at Siirt Training and Research Hospital in Turkey.

Following a positive fecal occult blood test, Aksu was referred via KETEM for a colonoscopy. The procedure revealed over 100 polyps across various regions of the large intestine and two obstructive masses. General Surgery Specialist Dr. Kamil Öztürk performed a total proctocolectomy and end ileostomy to address the malignancy.

Pathology results confirmed stage 3 colon cancer. Aksu has begun oncology treatment, including chemotherapy, and medical staff plan to close his temporary stoma once his treatment process is complete.
