Sika to acquire Resonac Corporation's adhesives business
Sika has reached an agreement to acquire the adhesives division of the Japanese chemical company Resonac Corporation. The business unit specializes in developing, manufacturing, and selling a wide range of adhesive technologies, with a primary focus on serving automotive customers throughout Asia.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen Sika's access to key suppliers of Japanese automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and expand its ability to serve these major accounts on a global scale. The division holds a leading position in interior assembly bonding and maintains manufacturing sites and sales organizations in Japan, China, and Taiwan.
Sika expects the deal to create significant growth opportunities and operational synergies. Key benefits include a more efficient manufacturing network within the Asia/Pacific region and expanded access to high-value market segments, such as battery solutions, through the acquired business's established presence in Taiwan.
