Sikkim partners with IIM Calcutta to incubate 250 startups

The Government of Sikkim’s Commerce & Industries Department has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) to strengthen the state’s startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Under this 36-month partnership, IIMCIP will serve as the Lead Incubation Partner for the Sikkim Innovation Hub.

The initiative aims to incubate 250 startups and operationalize four district incubation centres, with a goal of creating over 1,000 jobs. A specific target has been set for at least 40% of the supported enterprises to be women-led ventures.

Implemented under the Sikkim INSPIRES program, the partnership will support the Sikkim Startup Policy 2025. The Sikkim Innovation Hub will act as a central platform to provide entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and innovators with access to mentoring, capacity building, prototyping, market linkages, and investor connections.
