Sikorsky unveils Nomad 100 containerized drone deployment kit

Sikorsky has introduced the Nomad 100 Fast Pack, a containerized system designed for the rapid deployment of four autonomous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drones. The system is housed in a single 20-foot shipping container and includes mission-control software, communications equipment, power supplies, and maintenance tools.

Designed for use in locations without conventional runway infrastructure, the kit is intended for deployment from naval vessels, military staging areas, and improvised landing zones. The configuration allows crews to prepare two aircraft for missions in under 15 minutes, while the remaining two can be ready within four to six hours.

The Nomad 100 drones utilize Sikorsky’s MATRIX autonomy technology and feature an 18-foot wingspan with twin prop-rotors. Depending on the specific configuration, the aircraft can perform surveillance, reconnaissance, light attack, or logistics missions. The development of the Nomad 100 has been supported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under its Early VTOL Aircraft Demonstration program.
