World Tourism Event in Assisi highlights UNESCO sites and sustainable tourism

The 17th edition of the World Tourism Event (WTE) recently concluded in Assisi, focusing on UNESCO-recognized sites, cultural heritage, and walking paths. The event featured over forty meetings involving institutional representatives and experts to discuss the role of the UNESCO brand in tourism valorization.

During the event, the Sila National Park received the ‘Mario Bagnara’ Award for Sustainable Tourism in the ‘Most Innovative Tourism Offer’ category for its Greenway project. Additionally, the Calabria region was prominently represented through the ‘Calabria Parchi’ identity, showcasing its natural landscapes and biodiversity via immersive technology.

Representatives from Tarquinia and Cerveteri also participated in the WTE to promote Etruscan heritage and strengthen international cultural tourism circuits. The 18th edition of the WTE is scheduled to take place in Veneto in September 2027.
