Sila real estate market shows significant growth

Official data from the Agenzia delle Entrate (OMI) indicates that the real estate market in the Sila region of Calabria is experiencing significant growth, contradicting common perceptions of economic decline and abandoned mountain villages.

In 2025, Calabria recorded 17,991 residential sales, a 9.4 percent increase that exceeds the national average. Within the Sila plateau, four major tourist areas accounted for over 360 transactions. Notable growth was observed in San Giovanni in Fiore, which saw a 43 percent increase in sales, and Cotronei, which grew by 12 percent. In Aprigliano, sales volumes nearly doubled, while in Taverna, sales of small apartments in tourist villages more than doubled.

The data suggests a vibrant market, particularly for smaller units such as studios and one-bedroom apartments in residential complexes, especially in areas like Cotronei.
