Silas Malafaia accuses STF President Edson Fachin of bias

Evangelical pastor Silas Malafaia has accused Supreme Federal Court (STF) President Edson Fachin of acting without impartiality to benefit the Lula administration and undermine Justice André Mendonça.

In a video released on social media, Malafaia criticized Fachin’s intervention in a dispute regarding the leadership of the Federal Police. Fachin suspended both a decision by Mendonça to remove Andrei Rodrigues from the director-general position and a subsequent decision by Minister Flávio Dino to reinstate him. Malafaia argued that instead of upholding Mendonça’s ruling as the rapporteur, Fachin nullified it, which the pastor interprets as a coordinated effort against Mendonça.

Malafaia also questioned Fachin’s decision to take over legal processes involving Banco Master and the INSS. The pastor claimed these moves target sensitive investigations related to the current government, specifically mentioning investigations involving the son of President Lula.
