Silca resurrects Omata analog cycling computer
Silca has announced the acquisition and resurrection of Omata, the world’s first analog cycling computer featuring internal GPS. The company plans to release a limited run of the device, which will be manufactured in-house at its facility in Indianapolis.
Designed as a distraction-free alternative to modern digital screens, the Omata uses a mechanical dial to display speed, distance, ascent, and ride time. While the interface remains analog, the device functions as a mechatronic unit that records digital data in the background, including heart rate and power via ANT+ connectivity. Users can sync data through the Omata Utility App for iOS or via a USB-C connection.
The updated version features redesigned internal electronics, an improved battery system capable of lasting over 17 hours, and enhanced weather resistance through a triple-barrier lip seal and Gore-Tex membrane. The device is compatible with existing Garmin or Wahoo mounts and is priced at approximately $800 (867 Euro).
