Silent Hill: Townfall introduces first-person perspective and analog horror

At gamescom 2026, Konami and developer Screen Burn provided new details regarding 'Silent Hill: Townfall', a new entry in the psychological horror franchise. Set in the Scottish village of St. Amelia in 1996, the game marks a departure from previous titles by adopting a first-person perspective to increase player immersion.

Producer Motoi Okamoto and Creative Director Jon McKellan highlighted the game's focus on 'analog horror.' A key gameplay element is the 'CRTV', a portable television that replaces the series' traditional radio. This device uses static and distorted signals to convey environmental threats and narrative clues.

The narrative aims to intersect micro-level fears, such as personal guilt and trauma, with macro-level social horrors. The partnership with Glasgow-based Screen Burn was established following Konami's interest in their previous narrative-driven titles, 'Stories Untold' and 'Observation'.
