Silent Ransom Group’s physical law‑firm attacks and Google’s Android deep‑fake call protection

Polish law firms have become targets of the Silent Ransom Group, which now impersonates IT staff to gain physical access to offices. Attackers claim to arrive at the office door, present themselves as technicians, and connect USB devices to steal confidential client files, contracts and financial data. The FBI and Google have warned that dozens of firms were hit between January and May, and victims face extortion threats to publish stolen information.

At the same time, Google is rolling out a new Android security feature that detects fraudulent calls and AI‑generated deep‑fake voices. The system uses encrypted Rich Communication Services signals to verify the authenticity of incoming calls and warns users when a call appears spoofed. The feature is enabled by default on Pixel phones and will expand to all Android 12+ devices worldwide, starting with the United States. It aims to protect users from scams such as fake banking calls and BLIK‑type fraud.
