Silent travel trend prioritizes wellness and acoustic peace

A growing travel trend known as ‘silent travel’ or ‘quietcation’ is redefining luxury by prioritizing acoustic peace, sensory harmony, and a reduction in cognitive load over traditional high-tech amenities. This movement focuses on disconnecting from urban chaos and digital noise to promote psychological and physical well-being.

Scientific research, including studies from Duke University, suggests that even two hours of daily silence can stimulate neurogenesis, lower cortisol levels, and reduce heart rates. Such environments allow the brain to activate the Default Mode Network, which is essential for emotional regulation and creativity.

The Hilton 2026 Trends Report, based on a survey of 14,000 travelers across 14 countries, indicates that 56% of travelers currently prioritize rest as their primary goal. Italy is emerging as a key destination for this trend, offering diverse locations such as the wild coasts of Sardinia, the Apennine forests, and the regenerative ecosystems of the Nabi Lakes in Campania.
