Silesia region launches new cultural and film heritage projects
Cultural initiatives are expanding across the Silesia region in Poland. In Katowice, work has begun on the Silesian Film Trail, a project designed to highlight the history of film productions shot in the region. The project includes the creation of murals, such as one inspired by Kazimierz Kutza’s ‘Paciorki jednego różańca’ located on Miła Street, as well as future murals dedicated to ‘Jesteś bogiem’ and ‘Angelus’. The initiative is supported by the Polish Film Institute and local Katowice entities, and will include a dedicated website and informational guides.
In Sosnowiec, the Ernst Schoen Palace, which serves as a municipal museum, will host guided tours on September 13, 2026. Led by guide Joanna Kunysz, the tours will explore the neobaroque architecture of the late 19th-century residence and its historic park. The event aims to educate the public on the Schoen family, influential industrialists who played a decisive role in the urban and economic development of Sosnowiec.
