Silesian Pharmaceutical Inspectorate warns of e-prescription fraud
The Silesian Voivodeship Pharmaceutical Inspectorate has issued warnings regarding fraudulent e-prescriptions targeting high-strength medications. Two separate incidents were reported in the pharmacies of Piekarach Śląskich and Czechowice-Dziedzice.
In the first instance, a forged e-prescription for OxyContin 80 mg was presented. The document used the identity of a physician whose medical license number actually belonged to a different doctor, and the listed physician no longer works at the specified hospital in Warsaw. In the second case, a patient reported receiving an SMS code for narcotic OxyContin medication despite not having visited a doctor.
Authorities have notified the affected medical professionals regarding the misuse of their personal data and have reported the matters to the police.
