Silesian Trams Adopt Yellow Livery of GZM Network
The Górnośląsko‑Zagłębiowska Metropolia (GZM) and the operator Tramwaje Śląskie are introducing a unified yellow colour scheme for the region’s trams and Metrokolej commuter trains. The first yellow‑liveried vehicle is scheduled to enter service in November, with existing rolling stock to be repainted during routine overhauls.
GZM chairman Leszek Pietraszek said, “We want the solution that worked for buses and Metrorower to now cover trams, so passengers immediately know all vehicles in the GZM system belong to one network.” Tramwaje Śląskie president Krzysztof Mikuła added that the change is a natural step in regional integration and will preserve historic vehicle heritage. The visual overhaul began in mid‑2023 with electric Solaris buses and expanded in February 2024 to include the Metrorower, covering about 1,900 vehicles, 500 lines and 7,000 stops across 56 municipalities.
