Silesian Voivodeship to take over Museum of Silesian Uprisings

The Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik has expressed its intention to take full responsibility for the Museum of Silesian Uprisings in Świętochłowice. This move follows the city of Świętochłowice's decision to end its co-management of the institution. The regional government aims to become the sole organizer to ensure the museum's continued operation and prevent its liquidation.

Regional authorities are also considering a potential future merger between the Museum of Silesian Uprisings and the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom, though no final decision has been made.

Additionally, during the session, councilors designated 2027 as the Year of Father Franciszek Blachnicki to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the clergyman's death. Blachnicki was recognized for his religious and social activities that influenced freedom-oriented attitudes during the communist era.
