Silex Technology and NXP announce new edge AI and industrial MCU solutions

Silex Technology has announced the launch of the EP-200N, a high-performance System-on-Module (SoM) designed for industrial and medical edge AI applications. Powered by the NXP i.MX 95 applications processor, the module features a hexa-core Arm Cortex-A55 architecture, an integrated GPU, VPU, and a dedicated 8 eTOPS neural processing unit (NPU) to handle AI workloads at the edge.

The EP-200N is built for demanding environments, supporting operating temperatures from -40°C to +85°C and including 8 GB LPDDR5 memory and 32 GB eMMC storage. It offers various interfaces, including Ethernet, CAN-FD, and PCIe Gen3, to assist OEMs in developing intelligent edge systems.

In a related development, NXP has introduced the MCX A5 family of Cortex-M33 microcontrollers (MCUs). These MCUs are intended for industrial and networking applications, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and energy management systems. The MCX A5 series features 10BASE-T1S Single Pair Ethernet support and enhanced security through the EdgeLock accelerator, which includes post-quantum cryptography (PQC) hybrid support.
