Silicon Labs launches Simplicity AI SDK and new developer initiatives

Silicon Labs has announced several developer initiatives aimed at simplifying IoT development and scaling edge intelligence, unveiled at its seventh annual Works With Summit.

A key announcement is the public beta of the Simplicity AI SDK, which provides AI coding assistants—such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Codex—with structured access to the company’s SDKs, documentation, and hardware. This is intended to provide necessary context for general-purpose AI agents when working with specific vendor constraints.

The company also introduced Simplicity Design Intelligence, starting with a capability called Hardware Intent. This tool is designed to guide configuration and verify that the final implementation matches the original product requirements and board schematics to prevent errors before fabrication. RISCO Group is currently an alpha customer for this feature.

Additionally, Silicon Labs is launching an open-source community beta, initially focused on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), to allow developers to contribute code and sample applications via GitHub. To support enterprise workflows, the company is integrating its edge ML tools with the Databricks platform, enabling users to manage data, models, and hardware test results within governed enterprise AI workflows.
