Silivri ship collision search enters 16th day

Search and rescue operations are entering their 16th day for nine crew members missing after a collision off the coast of Silivri. The incident occurred on September 2, when the Turkish-flagged commercial vessel Alsu collided with the Tuğberk İmamoğlu, which was traveling from Iskenderun Port to Karadeniz Ereğli.

The collision caused the Tuğberk İmamoğlu to sink approximately 18 miles south of Silivri. While the wreckage was located on the fourth day of the operation using advanced sonar systems and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) from the TCG Akın, the majority of the crew remains missing. The body of the ship's captain, Yaşar Kayhan, was recovered on September 14.

Efforts are being coordinated by the Coast Guard Command, the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, and the Naval Forces Command. Meanwhile, the families of the missing crew members continue to wait at a contact point on the Silivri coast for updates.
