Silje Opseth undergoes emergency surgery during pregnancy

Norwegian ski jumper Silje Opseth underwent emergency surgery for acute appendicitis shortly after announcing her pregnancy and her decision to sit out the upcoming World Cup season.

The 27-year-old athlete reported that she recognized the symptoms early due to her familiarity with her own body. She was operated on within twelve hours of her diagnosis. Opseth shared via Instagram that both she and her unborn child are doing well, attributing the positive outcome to the rapid medical response and the Norwegian healthcare system.

Opseth, a multiple World Championship medalist with 29 World Cup podium finishes, stated that she now requires time to rest and recover. Norwegian ski jumping manager Jan-Erik Aalbu confirmed the positive progress of the situation, noting that Opseth is maintaining good morale despite the intensive period.
