Silkeborg railway crossing sees rise in near-miss incidents

A motorist ended up on the train tracks at the Frederiksberggade railway crossing in Silkeborg on Saturday, causing traffic to halt. Banedanmark confirmed the incident, though specific circumstances were not disclosed.

The crossing has seen a significant rise in near-miss incidents. According to Banedanmark data, the number of recorded near-misses at this location rose from two in 2024 to ten in 2025. Joakim Jensen, a section chief at Banedanmark, stated that the organization is monitoring the situation and considering safety measures such as reduced speed limits, improved signage, or the installation of cameras.

A local vendor reported witnessing frequent safety violations at the intersection, claiming that drivers often run red lights or enter the tracks when prohibited.
