Silla bull death sparks animal welfare investigations

Animal rights organizations and political groups are demanding investigations following the death of a bull during the “bous al carrer” festivities in Silla, Spain. According to reports and video footage circulated on social media, the animal was unable to stand after being released from its enclosure during the “desencaixonada” on August 12.

PACMA has denounced that the animal received “blows, electric shocks, and pulls” to force its exit. The animal rights platform has criticized the local mayor, Vicente Zaragozá, for maintaining these traditional events. Meanwhile, the political group Compromís per Silla has requested an exhaustive investigation from the local government to ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and to identify those responsible for any potential abuse.

Compromís has also called for a formal report from the municipal veterinarian responsible for supervising the festivities to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine if any sanctions are necessary under current regional decrees.
