Silval Barbosa proposes luxury assets to settle R$ 23.4 million debt

Former Mato Grosso Governor Silval Barbosa has submitted a proposal to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to settle a R$ 23.4 million debt stemming from a 2017 plea bargain agreement. The proposal, presented by his defense to Minister Dias Toffoli, aims to prevent the potential rescission of his collaboration agreement.

One option presented by the defense involves Barbosa surrendering his luxury apartment in Cuiabá, valued at R$ 8 million, along with a rural property valued at R$ 8.72 million. This plan would also incorporate R$ 4.5 million previously paid to the Mato Grosso Public Ministry and approximately R$ 2.23 million in cash installments.

A second alternative addresses the total debt, which has risen to over R$ 32.6 million due to interest and monetary correction. In this scenario, Barbosa proposes to assume half of the correction, bringing the total to approximately R$ 28.06 million. This would be settled via a rural property valued at R$ 22.995 million, previous civil agreement payments, and a cash installment of roughly R$ 347,000.
