Silvana Armenulić: 50 years since the death of the folk music star

The 50th anniversary of the death of folk music star Silvana Armenulić is being marked. The singer passed away in 1976 following a traffic accident near Smederevo, which also claimed the lives of her sister, Mirjana Bajraktarević, and violinist Miodrag Jašarević.

Official reports attributed the accident to a diabetic coma suffered by Jašarević while driving. The tragedy occurred when the group was traveling toward Belgrade. Armenulić was 37 years old at the time of her death.

According to family accounts, Armenulić had initiated divorce proceedings from her husband, Radmil Armenulić, and was involved in a relationship with sports commentator Marko Marković.
