Silvana Marinho breaks with Santo André Mayor Edglei
Former Mayor Silvana Marinho has officially broken political ties with the current Mayor of Santo André, Edglei. During a political event in Juazeirinho, Marinho declared her support for Federal Deputy Hugo Motta.
This move follows a previous signal of dissent on August 11, when Marinho announced her intention to vote for Adriano Galdino for state deputy, contradicting the Mayor's political guidance. While Marinho has aligned with new leaders, her brother Zenaldo Marinho and brother-in-law Assis Benjamim have chosen to remain within Edglei's political group.
Mayor Edglei currently maintains a strengthened political base, including the vice-mayor, seven city councilors, and various local leaders. These shifts in local alliances are already influencing political speculation regarding the 2028 municipal succession in Santo André.
