Silvano Brescianini recognized for biodiversity conservation in Franciacorta
Silvano Brescianini, CEO of Barone Pizzini, has been named a ‘Custode della Biodiversità’ (Guardian of Biodiversity) by Legambiente Lombardia. The recognition was presented during the ‘Biodiversità in vigna’ event held at the company’s headquarters in Provaglio d’Iseo.
The award highlights Brescianini’s commitment to organic farming, a practice the winery adopted in 1997, and his ongoing efforts to protect vineyard ecosystems. This initiative is part of the European LIFE NatConnect2030 project, which focuses on conserving and restoring biodiversity across Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Barone Pizzini’s approach involves long-term environmental stewardship, including participation in the Biopass project to monitor soil health and sustainability. The winery’s production, such as the Franciacorta Riserva Bagnadore 2012, reflects these organic and biodiverse viticultural practices.
