Silver Rail Elementary School shooting kills four in Bend, Oregon

A shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, resulted in the deaths of four people: teacher Megan Lambert, 25, and three students aged 5, 8, and 11. The 5-year-old victim was identified as Rhoam Summer.

The attacker, identified as 16-year-old former student Griffin J. John II, opened fire inside a special education classroom. The massacre ended when a bystander, Kaylub Giamanco, pursued the gunman and fatally shot him. Another teacher, Becky Drury, and a 7-year-old student were also injured during the incident.

Investigators are examining how the teenager obtained a Maverick 88 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, which was reportedly purchased by his mother, Shauntai Nickerson. Authorities are also looking into the shooter's motives and his history with the school. The parents of one of the victims have hired attorneys to investigate school safety protocols and the acquisition of the firearm.
