Silver Storm Mining and Sierra Madre report divergent mining financial results
Silver Storm Mining has completed the first tranche of a private placement, raising $14.6 million ($20.3 million total) through the issuance of 29.25 million units. Due to high investor demand, the company increased its total non-brokered offering from 30 million to 42 million units, aiming for $21 million in gross proceeds. Investor Eric Sprott, via 2176423 Ontario, led the placement with a $7.5 million subscription, resulting in his entity holding 12.9% of outstanding shares on a non-diluted basis. The funds are earmarked for drilling programs at the La Parrilla Silver Mine Complex in Durango, Mexico, and general corporate purposes.
Separately, Sierra Madre Gold & Silver reported a decline in second-quarter net income to US$37,226, down from US$338,839 in the first quarter. The company saw revenue drop to US$8.23 million from US$10.1 million in the previous quarter. Management attributed the decrease to development spending at the Coloso and Nazareno mines, power outages, and lower recoveries during ramp-up periods. Despite the dip in income, the company's cash position improved to US$22.2 million following a CAD$57.5 million financing and the acquisition of the Del Toro silver mine.
